About laser dentistry

A dental laser uses a focused beam of light to treat soft tissue precisely. It seals small blood vessels and nerve endings as it works, so there is less bleeding, less swelling and often no need for stitches.

We use lasers for gum contouring, treating gum pockets, releasing a tongue-tie, healing mouth ulcers, reducing sensitivity and disinfecting root canals. Many laser treatments need little or no anaesthetic.

This may be suitable if you have

How treatment works

  1. Check suitability

We examine the area and explain whether a laser or a conventional approach suits you best.

  2. Treat

Everyone wears protective glasses; the laser treatment itself usually takes minutes.

  3. Heal

Most people go straight back to normal activities, with a simple aftercare routine.

Frequently asked questions

Is laser treatment safe?

Yes. Dental lasers are low-power and used by trained dentists. Everyone in the room wears protective glasses during treatment.

Does it hurt?

Many soft-tissue procedures need only numbing gel. If an injection is needed, it is usually a smaller dose than for conventional surgery.

Can lasers replace the drill?

Not for every job. Lasers are best for gums and soft tissue; most fillings still need conventional instruments.
