About teeth replacement

A missing tooth is more than a gap. Neighbouring teeth drift into the space, the opposite tooth over-grows, chewing moves to one side and the jawbone slowly shrinks where the root used to be.

There are three main ways to replace teeth — a dental implant, a fixed bridge or a removable denture. Each suits different mouths and budgets, so we show you all three side by side, with the time, the cost and how long each is likely to last.

This may be suitable if you have

  • One or more missing teeth
  • A tooth that has to be removed
  • A loose or uncomfortable denture
  • An old bridge that has failed

What we offer

  • Resin-bonded (Maryland) bridges

Removable options

Planning

  • Digital X-rays and a 3D scan where needed
  • Side-by-side comparison of options
  • Temporary tooth while you heal
  • Written estimate before treatment

How treatment works

  1. Examine and scan

We check the gap, the neighbouring teeth, your gums and the bone, with a 3D scan if an implant is an option.

  2. Compare options

You see implants, bridges and dentures side by side — time, comfort, lifespan and cost, in writing.

  3. Replace the tooth

Treatment follows the plan you choose, with a temporary tooth so you are never left with a gap.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better — an implant, a bridge or a denture?

It depends on the gap, your bone and your budget. Implants last longest and protect the bone; bridges are quicker but rely on the neighbouring teeth; dentures are the most affordable and replace many teeth at once.

Do I need to replace a back tooth nobody can see?

Usually, yes. Back teeth do most of the chewing, and a gap there lets other teeth tilt and drift, which causes bite problems later.

Will I be without teeth during treatment?

No. We fit a temporary tooth or denture so you can smile and eat while the final teeth are made.
